"A" is a cheerful, creative 5-year-old who lights up every room she enters. Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and a physical disability, "A" loves spending time with her family, creating art, and connecting with friends in her own special way.

"A's" journey hasn't been easy from the start. She and her sister were adopted by their mother out of an unsafe situation, and since then, their mom (a single parent) has worked tirelessly to give them the stable, loving, and nurturing home they always deserved.

​

Part of that stability has come from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, which "A's" neurologist has deemed medically necessary for her continued growth and development. Over the years, A has benefited from ABA in multiple forms: individual therapy, group social skills therapy, school shadowing, and summer intensive programs which are all critical pieces in helping her thrive.

In May, everything changed. Without any warning to "A's" mother or her ABA clinic, "A's" approved therapy hours were slashed from 30 hours per week down to just 4. This abrupt and unexplained cut threatened to undo months of progress.

Recognizing how essential this therapy is, "A's" family made the difficult decision to continue her participation in the summer intensive program despite the cut, leaving them with a bill of over $3,000.

To make matters more complex, "A's" ABA provider is a small, local clinic that serves only 20–25 families at a time. Unlike the large corporate ABA companies that can absorb sudden funding cuts, this small business (and the families like "A's" who depend on it) are left carrying a financial burden they didn't create and can't easily bear.

"A's" mother has already given her daughters the gift of a safe, loving home. Now, this family needs a little help ensuring that "A" doesn't lose access to the therapy that helps her continue to grow, connect, and thrive.
